Longest night and shortest day,
Magic comes bright.
We gather now on this longest night,
Honoring darkness, praising light.
Dancers hail the
standing stones,
As growing solar light returns.
Ancient ones at Newgrange gathered,
Awaiting dawns first light.
Hidden tombs and
carvings old,
Illuminated by solstice
sunlight bright.
World round, grateful souls
Celebrate this night of returning light.
May we see this shaft of brilliance,
A sign of summer growing.
Cut the evergreen adornments,
And build the sacred fire to coax the Sun higher.
Yule log embers and torches bright,
Warm our dreams this magical night.
Memories and ancient secrets
Of the Druids come to me tonight.
May this increase my wisdom now,
The ancestors guide my spirit.
Magnifying brilliance and promises to come,
Spirals dance in solstice first light.
Visions planted, now on this night,
Grow strong and clear with the light.
Holly, mistletoe, ivy, pine,
Magic be, on this day.
So mote it be.

You scored as Buddhism. Your beliefs most closely resemble those of Buddhism. Do more research on Buddhism and possibly consider becoming Buddhist, if you are not already.

In Buddhism, there are Four Noble Truths: (1) Life is suffering. (2) All suffering is caused by ignorance of the nature of reality and the craving, attachment, and grasping that result from such ignorance. (3) Suffering can be ended by overcoming ignorance and attachment. (4) The path to the suppression of suffering is the Noble Eightfold Path, which consists of right views, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right-mindedness, and right contemplation. These eight are usually divided into three categories that base the Buddhist faith: morality, wisdom, and samadhi, or concentration. In Buddhism, there is no hierarchy, nor caste system; the Buddha taught that one's spiritual worth is not based on birth.

You are The Moon

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Moon is a card of magic and mystery - when prominent you know that nothing is as it seems, particularly when it concerns relationships. All logic is thrown out the window.

The Moon is all about visions and illusions, madness, genius and poetry. This is a card that has to do with sleep, and so with both dreams and nightmares. It is a scary card in that it warns that there might be hidden enemies, tricks and falsehoods. But it should also be remembered that this is a card of great creativity, of powerful magic, primal feelings and intuition. You may be going through a time of emotional and mental trial; if you have any past mental problems, you must be vigilant in taking your medication but avoid drugs or alcohol, as abuse of either will cause them irreparable damage. This time however, can also result in great creativity, psychic powers, visions and insight. You can and should trust your intuition.

Recently I've been noticing that whenever I enter an online community where people discuss magick, I suddenly feel very angry and frustrated. Often I feel very angry at myself, but because I don't understand why, it confuses me, and that makes me even angrier.

I wonder now if this is some sort of shifting consciousness at work, like when wolf therians sometimes suddenly feel angry when they walk outside; perhaps my gryphon side is feeling some resentment towards people who use magick.

It is my human side that helps my gryphon side to interact with the world; my hands and fingers allow it to draw, write, and type; my eyes allow it to see the physical world; my feet help it to explore it. But in order for my gryphon side to utilize its own powers and draw energy from its own world, the astral plane, I have had to use magick.

But for my gryphon side to have been reborn within me, it would have had to have died in the first place. I already know the knights, paladins, and rangers who sought out to slay dragons and other "monstrous" beings because they refused to understand them. I wouldn't be surprised if these humans sometimes turned to practitioners of magick to help them destroy what they could of my brethren.

Even so, for these wizards and witches to want to help those people who would slay these beasts, they would not be true to their cause, which involves the protection of the Earth and Nature. Either they were of ill intent, or perhaps simply misguided or misled; in the end they were the reason why so many of the Earth's natural guardians are now living on the astral plane instead of the physical one.

Instead of feeling angry at the past, I should really be encouraging the mages of the future to consider the creatures who once protected their world.

I had a vision last night of a creature coming towards me through the darkness. It looked like a long, slender dragon with silver-blue scales and wispy fish fins instead of arms and legs. Its head seemed to be just its bony skull with long darker blue-green hair streaming out of it, a pair of long flowing whiskers near the snout, and a pair of piercing catlike yellow eyes staring out from its eyesockets.

It came up to me, the skeletal grin fixed on its face, and looked at me for a moment. It then turned, and I saw a human standing next to it, an adult male wearing a uniform of navy blue and gold with a long blue cape. He turned toward the dragon and petted its head, running its hand up and down the length of its face.

As I watched them, a number of ideas floated through my head, explanations for why the human was being so humane towards the dragon.

1) The dragon is a beloved friend of the man, and didn't always have a skull head.

2) The dragon saved the man's life or rescued his immediate family from some great disaster.

3) The two are soul-bonded and have learned to accept this bond.

4) The dragon is the reincarnated form of the man's wife.

5) The man simply is not turned off by beings that have a ghastly appearance.

With this candle I establish the hearth of my journal.

Might as well introduce myself.

My name among gryphons and other 'kin is Isha Niveus. It is made up of a Sanskrit word meaning "protector" (or so I am told) and the Latin word for "snow-white". Its basis is on the gryphon's ancient Indian roots as well as the color of my feathers and fur. I am a white gryphon.

My home is in the plains of central Georgia, where I enjoy taking long walks in the pine forests.

I practice magick, particularly healing, blessing, and shielding magick. One of my natural talents is hexing, though I'm not really proud of it. I use crystals, candles, and aromatherapy in my work, namely oils and incense. Sometimes I use herbs such as in tea and burning sage, but not often in magick. I am also teaching myself how to use Reiki and touch massage. Aside from all this I also practice divination, in which I use runes, Tarot, and a crystal ball for scrying.

I have numerous totem animals who I turn to as my spirit guides. They include (but are not limited to) kirin, badger, penguin, and owl. My familiars include a beta fish and a cat.

I believe that it is more important to teach and protect children instead of just isolate and placate them. They are the future of humanity and should be treated as such, no matter what history their individual lineages have. I also believe in religious tolerance and art for art's sake.

In my free time I like to draw, read, listen to music, and play chess. I have a collection of foreign coins and tumbled crystals which I keep as my personal hoard. My favorite foods are roast beef sandwiches, tacos, leafy spinach, pepperoni, and Swedish Fish.
